When setting up key commands in Cubase or Nuendo, you can add more single keystroke actions by installing one of the many peripheral devices available that let you bind their individual button messages to multiple keystroke combinations. Once you have a device like this set up, you can map your most frequently accessed commands to two or three key combinations, leaving more single strokes on the keyboard available for performing other frequently used commands.
Bounce audio, silence, or fade in/out are some common examples of key assignments you may want to have readily accessible to speed up your workflow. However, these commands are not limited to built-in processes if you are working with Cubase SX or Nuendo. In either of these applications you can also assign a key command to open third party plug-ins to process a selected portion of audio.
To map keystrokes go to the File menu and select "Key Commands...".
