A pure sine wave has many useful applications when it comes to the bottom end of your mixes. One technique that was taught to me by a successful producer/engineer Alfio Annibali (He works with DMX and several other urban and rock big names) is if you end up having a weak kick drum in your track layer a low note of sine wave over every weak kick, the difference is incredible!
