I have an M-Audio Firewire 410, and I experience a" tinkle basic sound to noise on my combo xlr preamps" of it, instead even the manual of the soundcard said that signal to noise is -107db!I've read all pro noise problems/issues manuals,BUT MY PROBLEM isn;t there!It;s something else,I think the signal itself is guilted//is gained noisely from preaps..
--- I've made all the tests both in the Cu_base_ sx 2.2 audios and Sony Sound Forge 8, or even JUST talk LIVE into the microphone! THE SAME EFFECT - the signal of it from gains is accompanied by this TINKLE noise/the signal itself has a inadmissible tinkle for the presume quality of the soundcard -107db OR THIS is the 'quality'/noise of it's preamps?(and the mic is perfecttudio Projects B1) !!!
---I have the GAIN established at the best possition to work(the cursor of the gain is almost in the middle), and the soundcard works very good on the other hand(has no "software issues, only this is a HUGE problem=big rec noise problem)...
____ WHAT COULD BE??? IS THIS THE QUALITY OF the soundcard Firewire 410???Or THIS CARD is BROKEN or something???OR about an INCOPATIBILITY between B1 mic and FW410 preams??? PLEASE ANSWER THIS TO ME WHATEVER WOULD BE THE PROBLEM(what is really the problem???IT'S important to know it,whatever would be)!!! ____I've tested the cables too, and both preamps- sounds same noise signal, I think to big for the product image quality!WHAT could it be, and what is to be done! tkhs for understanding.

I've got a FW 410. No issues, good unit.
M-Audio cards have LIFETIME warranties.
Take it back where you got it and they'll have to give you a new one.

Hi again!

I tried to return it back, but the "staff" there, refused even to recognise that is "a broken card", and so they refused to repair it; SO...they categoricaly refused to CHANGE my device with another FW 410!!! They even refused to compare it with another one!

They are "AV Audio Sys Romania", a music instruments importer from Bucharest, about which I noticed that are ONLY money seekers and big cheaters.

Whatever...they are importing many devices, not only from M-Audio source; I mean...they are not an M-Audio representance, only importers. SO, what I CAN DO??(obviousely, there is no M-Audio representance in Romania)

___CAN I BE SOMEHOW HELPED BY THE M-Audio UK or US?___I mean M-Audio SOURCES?? Couse EVEN the device is "perfect in box",like I bought it then, I can't use it properly....Otherwise it works well, but what use if I bought it especially for audio recording quality(no tinkle/background signal to noise and no bad preaps)!!?
...and BELIEVE ME, I know the device even 'better' than 'they /many people' know it !!!
And even so , no clue. What could I do then? Could an M-Audio representance(UK, or other US , Canada) to help me?

You should be-able to exchange it through them.

Just I'm NOT bum, couse I tried all possibilities from studying to contacting, e-mailing to many M-Audio representances, forums, both in my country Romania and UK, US, etc. and even so no good answer.

Please, who use this more than making electronic music - "all in box" music, I mean who REALLY use this FW 410 for especially RECORDING voices and acoustic instruments( I mean who uses very much it's ports and PREAMPS),
please CLUE me about this tinkle/noise signal. What is all about, at last?

PS: I wish to be helped by people who really know this FW 410 device at all!!! And used/are using it's PREAMPS and ports!!! DOES someone in this category experienced this issues/big problems, and/or know HOW could I cure it?

Topic is open especially for the real 'knew-ers' of this M-Audio FW 410 device.

Bummer is a saying here in Canada.
It means how sad that these people are not helping you.
I do use a Firewire 410 and have NEVER had a issue with the unit.
I use the mic preamps, midi port & the firewire port.
